ndlea-arrests-34-suspects,-recovers-illicit-substances-in-kano

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano state has apprehended 34 suspects and seized various quantities of illicit substances in a crackdown on drug joints during the festive period.

Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the state NDLEA commander, said the operation targeted notorious drug dens in areas such as Fagge, Sani Abacha Stadium, Danagundi, and the infamous Filin Idi.

Seized substances include cannabis sativa, Exol-5, and “suck and die,” along with arms allegedly used by drug peddlers against officers.

“The drug users will receive necessary counselling to support their recovery,” Idris-Ahmad said, adding that suspects found culpable would be prosecuted.

“We will continue to eradicate the menace of drug abuse from the streets of Kano and promote awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, as community cooperation is essential in this fight against drug-related issues,” he added.

The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to a drug-free Kano, calling for community cooperation in tackling substance abuse.
