President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem appeal fund at the State House in Abuja, commending the armed forces for their role in safeguarding the nation from external threats.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is commemorated annually on January 15. During the launch, the president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of military personnel, noting that those who lost their lives while serving will be duly honoured. He emphasised that his government will persist in directing resources towards tackling the nation’s security challenges.

George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, announced a donation of N500 million to the appeal fund on behalf of the federal government, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio contributed N200 million on behalf of the National Assembly.

Additionally, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa declared a donation of N50 million on behalf of the service chiefs, alongside Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police.

During the event, A.M. Jubril, a retired Major General and Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, presented the emblem to President Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Akpabio, and Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
